Mamta Mohandas débuted in the Malayalam film Mayookham in 2005 directed by Hariharan. Although the film did not do well at the box-office, Mamta attracted attention for her sensitive portrayal. Her breakthrough was the role of Mammootty's sister in the successful Bus Conductor.
